Shaketa Robinson-Bruce is a Board-Certified Counselor nationally and a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia and Florida. She obtained a Master of Science in Counseling and Human Development and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Troy University. She is a Ph. D. candidate in Counselor Education and Supervision at Mercer University in Atlanta, Georgia. Throughout her training in this program, Shaketa has developed extensive leadership and advocacy skills that she implements while consulting. Her current research interests are trauma recovery and the use of spirituality as a therapeutic intervention.

Shaketa is the clinical director and founder of Open Arms Counseling Center in Atlanta, Georgia, where she counsels high-achieving women and young adults. She has received certification as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, Clinical Supervisor, and specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy, both of which she uses to treat trauma and PTSD.

Shaketa speaks professionally at conferences, colleges/universities, organizations, and community events on minority mental health, women’s mental health, and intergenerational trauma. She has also been featured on the Therapy for Black Girls and Lady and the Couch podcasts, in PopSugar magazine, The Psychotherapy Networker magazine, Medium, and multiple local news segments discussing mental health issues unique to African Americans. Shaketa has been a mental health therapist in residential, community mental health, and outpatient settings for nearly 20 years.
